‘Funky Market 209’ Coming To Kerr Park

It used to be known as the Funky Flea Market … and it used to be staged at Bloomingcamp Ranch.

This weekend, though, the newly renamed and relocated Funky Market 209 – under the direction of creator and coordinator Lisa Norris – will be staged at Kerr Park, off North Stearns Road at the east end of Oakdale.

Norris said she loved having the event at Bloomingcamp Ranch but, with recent changes there, the venue was not available for this year’s show. But she was able to move it a little closer to town, with the familiar Kerr Park scheduled to be filled with vendors.

The fall harvest event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. both Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 28 and 29. Norris noted that one of the first things she did after securing a new spot was extend the invitation to Bloomingcamp’s to be there with their famous pies and other treats.

“It’s a lovely shady venue at historic Kerr Park,” said Norris.

This is an admission free event and is a kid-friendly market. There will be pumpkins and holiday décor, as well as a place to take photos, with pumpkins and hay bales.

Among the vendors Norris anticipates attending are Bloomingcamp Ranch Bakery, JAB Creations out of Escalon, Foxy Designs by London Fox of Oakdale, Serendipity Paint & Workshops, Wine Barrel vendor JL Crafts, the Wandering Barista with coffee and smoothies, a tap truck with wine and beer, Fireball Pizza and the Poppycock Pumpkin Patch with their famous cement pumpkins.

“Just to name a few,” noted Norris.

Local shops, artisans, crafters and designers are all part of the event, with upcycled re-purposed, vintage and trendy takes on projects, as well as some direct sales vendors.

“Come find a treasure for yourself,” Norris said.

Kerr Park is at 840 N. Stearns Road.
