The following is a listing of some of the local calls for service involving the Modesto Fire Department, which staffs Stations 27 and 28 in Oakdale; and the Stanislaus Consolidated Fire Department, covering the Riverbank area. Calls were logged during the time period of Tuesday, June 16 through Monday, June 22.

MONDAY JUNE 22

2:5 p.m. – Engine 29, Water Rescues 26, 28, and Battalion 5 responded to Knights Ferry for a water rescue; information received indicated that six individuals, including juveniles were stranded on the north side of the river, but unharmed. Crews were able to quickly locate the stranded individuals then assist them to safety; their pool rated floats had become uninflated after striking branches in the water. Immediately after the six individuals were assisted to safety, a bystander walked up to Battalion 5 and then stated that her family (of six individuals) required assistance not far from where the initial six individuals were rescued. Boat 28 crew members located then assisted the second party of six, including an infant, just below Rushing Rapids; their inflatable inner tubes had also failed after striking branches along the river channel. All twelve individuals were released without requiring medical assistance. The second party had visited Station 27 earlier in the day to borrow two life jackets for the juvenile and infant, but not the adults.
