Oakdale’s Fair Oaks Falcons captured second place overall in the 2025 Stanislaus County Elementary Science Olympiad this past weekend.
Teams of young scientists from all four Oakdale elementary schools – Fair Oaks, Cloverland, Magnolia and Sierra View – took part in the event, which was hosted on Saturday, May 3 in Turlock. Nearly every competitive category saw one of the Oakdale teams place in the top five, with Fair Oaks amassing enough points to take the second place honors.
Hughes was crowned the county champion and third place went to the Walnut Gold team.

Catapult: Cloverland, first place; Sierra View, third; Fair Oaks, fourth.
Crime Busters: Fair Oaks, second place; Cloverland, fifth.

Don’t Bug Me: Fair Oaks, fifth.
Knock, Knock – Who’s There: Fair Oaks, second.
Mystery Architecture: Cloverland, first place; Fair Oaks, second.
Paddle Boat: Cloverland, third place; Sierra View, fourth; Magnolia, fifth.
Starry Starry Night: Magnolia, first.
Straw Egg Drop: Fair Oaks, first place; Magnolia, third; Cloverland, fourth.
Straw Tower: Fair Oaks, fourth.
Treasure Hunt: Sierra View, fifth.

An estimated 300 elementary school students from throughout the county took part in the 27th Annual Elementary Science Olympiad. The competition was sponsored by the Stanislaus County Office of Education (SCOE) and the Education Foundation of Stanislaus County. Fourteen different schools were represented.
Out of the 17 events during the day, there were only three that did not include a top five finish by one or more of the Oakdale schools.
