Modesto Junior College presents a Guit-Artist Series Concert by classical guitarists Daniel Radu and Aaron Davis on Wednesday, Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Music Recital Hall on East Campus, 435 College Ave., Modesto.

Davis will perform Bolero by Julián Arcas; Vals en Mi by José Brocá; Danza Caracteristica by Leo Brouwer; Duo Op. 34 No. 2 by Ferdinando Carruli, (with guitarist Rafael Jiménez), and Cello Suite No. 1 BWV 1007 by J. S. Bach.

Radu will perform Tocatta by Giovanni Batista Granata, Zonata by Gyan Riley and Rosiniana by Mauro Giuliani.

Radu is a Romanian born guitarist who studied at California State University, Stanislaus under the tutelage of Richard Savino and is currently is in the process of finishing a Masters in Music Performance, also at CSUS. He has participated in numerous competitions and festivals in Romania as well as throughout California and has performed with the baroque ensemble Camerata Capistrano since 2010.

Davis, a Sacramento native, began his classical guitar studies in 2004 with Brandon Yip at American River College. He is now a member of the Guitar Studio at CSUS School of Music, where he studies with Professor Savino and David Chapman. He is currently in his senior year as a double major in Classical Guitar Performance and Music Education.

 

Concert tickets are $10 general admission and $5 for students and seniors. Tickets may be purchased in advance at the MJC Box Office, Tuesday through Friday, noon to 5 p.m., or by calling (209) 575-6776 during these hours, and are also online at www.mjc.tix.com. Tickets will be available at the door beginning 90 minute prior to the performance.
