Friends Of Chamber Music Concert Hosts Parker Quartet
Quartet

With beautiful tone color and thoughtful accuracy to their performance, the Parker Quartet will fulfill your expectation with a remarkable concert in their upcoming performance on Sunday, Sept. 16, at 2:30 p.m. in Faye Spanos Concert Hall on the University of the Pacific campus.

Tickets are $25 and are available in the lobby of Faye Spanos Concert Hall at UOP starting at 2 p.m., 30 minutes before the concert. Students of any age are admitted free.

Hailed by The New York Times as “something extraordinary” and by the Boston Globe for their “virtuosic, utterly assured ... assiduously cultivated blend of sound,” the Grammy Award-winning Parker Quartet has distinguished itself as one of the preeminent ensembles of its generation.

Performing together since 2002, the Parker Quartet trained at the New England Conservatory of Music and is one of the best chamber music quartets performing today. Daniel Chong, violin; Ying Xue, violin; Jessica Bodner, viola; and Kee-Hyun Kim, cello, are currently based in Boston. Previously they have held teaching and performance residencies at the University of South Carolina and the University of St. Thomas. From 2008 to 2013, the quartet spent much of its time in St. Paul, Minnesota, where they served as Quartet-in-Residence with the St. Paul Chamber Orchestra (2008-2010) and were the first-ever Artists-in-Residence with Minnesota Public Radio (2009-2010). The Parker Quartet began their residency at Harvard in the fall of 2014.

With an international reputation, the Parker Quartet began touring after winning the Concert Artists Guild Competition as well as the Grand Prix and Mozart Prize at the Bordeaux International String Quartet Competition in France. Chamber Music America awarded the quartet the prestigious biennial Cleveland Quartet Award for the 2009- 2011 seasons.

The audience is invited to meet the musicians at a reception following the concert.
