Members of the Oakdale Garden Club are the first group to answer the request by members of the Valley Home Community Center Board of Directors, for help in planting trees at the new Valley Home Community Park. Following a discussion of what type of tree to plant, member, Rosalie Osman made a motion for members to plant four types of Oak trees, which would include the local native Oak. The club’s donation will help call the public’s attention to the native Oaks, which were prevalent in this area at one time. The members were unanimous in their decision to purchase the trees and are now awaiting word as to the date of planting.
The members of the Valley Home Community Center Board of Directors would like to have a selection of about 24 trees planted on the park grounds. If you would like to donate a tree, perhaps, in memory of a loved one, you may contact members of the Board through this column at valleyhome news.com or by calling 847-5822.
