Valley Home residents are looking forward to an evening of good food and fun on this coming Friday night at the 2nd Annual Bunko Night sponsored by the Valley Home School PTC. We are told that tickets will be on sale for a $20 donation to Valley Home PTC at the door if there are some left, however, once they sell out, then the doors close. To make certain that you get in on the fun, it would be best to call in advance for tickets. PTC members thank you again for your support and look forward to seeing you there. Dinner commences at 6 p.m., with the game beginning at 7 p.m. for an evening of desserts, prizes, raffle and a ton of fun!

Just a reminder that the Jog-A-Thon shirt drawing contest judging will also be held that same evening and the winning entry announced.

We are told that donations for prizes are still being accepted through the end of the school day on March 12th in the Gym or call us to schedule a pick-up. Any donation of $50 gets a ticket!

Calling all Valley Home artists! If you would like to enjoy an afternoon of drawing and working with colored pencils, classes for doing just that are now available at the Escalon Library. This free “On Your Own” class is for anyone interested in drawing. Beginners are welcome. This is a great opportunity to meet other artists while pursuing your art. The class is being held on Wednesdays from 1:30 p.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the library located at 1540 Second St., Escalon. For more information, contact Susan Traphagan at 838-7718. Be sure to take time to view some of our Valley Home artist’s paintings currently on display at the library.

As a result of the Valley Home School Board meetings being held on Tuesdays and the Valley Home News column of the Oakdale Leader being distributed on Wednesdays, often important issues fail to reach the News reporter by the Sunday evening deadline ten days before the meeting and many of our residents are not aware that an important issue will be on the School Board’s agenda. It has come to this reporter’s attention that this likely happened at yesterday’s School Board meeting when it was heard that discussion on the future of the historic Valley Home Library would be on the agenda with a possible action vote. If the subject had been included in this week’s news column it still would have been too late for readers to attend the meeting. The subject of the library’s future is very important to many Valley Home residents who would like their interests and ideas heard and considered. Hope is that a meeting can be scheduled far enough ahead for all interested persons to attend.
