Knights Ferry News
Knights Ferry

Saturday morning dawned bright and warm for the Civil War reenactment. The Blue and the Grey set up their encampments and busied themselves with the doings of life back then. On Saturday evening the Community Club put on their annual Spaghetti Dinner and it was well attended. The reenactors were very thankful for the dinner. A rousing raffle took place with 124 items finding new homes. Thanks go out to all those who donated raffle items or food for the dinner. Thanks also to the church ladies and the 4-H youngsters for help bussing tables, etc. Sunday morning the cannons sounded out far and wide (the peacocks screamed at each boom). It was a lovely day in the Ferry!

Dottie Frias told of her rescue of a dog that was in the middle of the road and seemed lost. She took it and had it scanned. It had a chip but was on its way to the animal shelter. An elderly couple at the vets was looking for a dog to replace the one they lost and things fell into place. Dottie and husband Ken are living in Ken’s folks place on Frymire Road. Welcome to the community!

Knights Ferry School is going to the birds – chickens, that is! The school is hatching eggs and is in need of a coop and help when the children are not in school. Call the office at 881-3382 if you can help.

Superintendent/Principal Dr. J in her message to parents last week mentioned that “it takes a village to raise a child” and Knights Ferry parents and the community are doing just that!
