Visionary Home Builders of California (VHB), Stockton’s non-profit housing specialist, will be hosting an informational meeting to discuss the vision of their new project in Oakdale, known as Oak Leaf Meadows. The meeting will be held on Wednesday, May 17, from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Gene Bianchi Community Center, 110 S. Second St., Oakdale.

The goal is to develop a multi-family community in the City of Oakdale, according to VHB officials. The project is planned at 1135 E. J St. The property is approximately three acres and would be designed to serve families. The project is planned to consist of 56 units: 38 two bedrooms and 18 three bedrooms with a community center which would consist of office space, child care and meeting spaces to provide services for the families. Proposed resident services would include a daycare, workforce development and financial education to assist families prepare for homeownership in the future. Through the partnership of Visionary, Great Valley Housing Corporation and the Housing Authority of Stanislaus County, the project would be designed to meet the guidelines of the 9 percent Tax Credit.

The building components that are used in all of Visionary’s projects exceed Title 24 regulations; therefore creating an energy efficient environment that will be passed along to the residents. The residence would have lighting at specific points to eliminate dark corners as well as equipping each unit with its own exterior lighting. There would be a continuous walkway that links the residential buildings together with a boundary fence and pedestrian gates. Each unit would have a washer and dryer providing safety and convenience to residents.

The project’s location is within walking distance of schools, parks, stores, and public transportation providing each resident with the means to reach any location necessary.
