Graduation Ceremonies Make For Busy Week

Caps and gowns are being pressed and hung as schools in the Oakdale Joint Unified School District prepare for the pomp and circumstance of graduation ceremonies.

A handful of students throughout the district are preparing speeches to be shared with audiences on their reflections, hopes, dreams and maybe a bit of humor to go along with it.

Oakdale High School Valedictorian Michael Winders and Salutatorian Jasmine Yong will be among their class of 367 students for the OHS graduation on Friday, May 27. As is customary with the open graduation, a capacity crowds is expected for the 7 p.m. ceremony at the Mustang Corral.

Oakdale Charter School will lead off the week’s events of celebration and acknowledgement this Wednesday night, May 25. Their ceremony will be hosted at the Magnolia School Auditorium, beginning at 5 p.m.

Not to miss the celebration they worked so hard for, graduates of Oakdale Alternative Education will also be celebrated by family and friends on Wednesday evening. The May 25 ceremony will be hosted at 7 p.m. at Oakdale High School.

Oakdale Junior High students will get their first taste of walking across the Corral turf as they take to the field for their graduation. OJHS graduation will be hosted on Thursday, May 26 at 7 p.m. Gates will open at 6:30 p.m. and seating is based on a first come, first serve basis.
