The Oakdale water polo teams both took a difficult loss this past week. Both boys and girls were on the road and had long bus rides back from the competition. The boys fell to Downey 10-8 on Tuesday, Sept. 26. In the loss Caden Nord scored four goals for Oakdale and had an impact on the defensive side as well as he gathered three steals. The Mustangs will look to bounce back this week as they take on Ripon and Calaveras. Both games are on the road, Ripon was held on Tuesday, Oct. 3 following The Leader press time and will take on Calaveras on Tuesday, Oct. 10 with a 5 p.m. start time.

For the girls, it was a loss to familiar foe the Rio Americano Raiders of Sacramento. These two teams have battled it out in the playoffs over the last few years and it was Rio coming out on top in this regular season showdown 9-5. Whitney Lee scored three goals for Oakdale to help lead the team.

“Whitney was a leader on both sides of the pool,” head coach Diane Kline said.

Oakdale took on Ripon in Valley Oak League action Tuesday night with the game being held following The Leader press time. This weekend the girls will head to Clovis to be in the Clovis North Round Robin. On Tuesday, Oct. 10 the girls will take on Calaveras in VOL action with the game scheduled for 4 p.m.
