Strong Performances Lead Mustangs To Swim Wins

Oakdale was active this week in the pool as the team traveled to Lathrop for a dual meet against Sierra and Lathrop in Valley Oak League action. The Lady Mustangs defeated Sierra 129-36 and Lathrop 135-25. For the boys it was Oakdale edging out Sierra 78-75 and winning 100-25 over Lathrop on Thursday, April 6.

In girls action Neesa Deleon took first place in the 200 freestyle at 2:26.02. Clare McKeon edged out Dayton McGinnis in a thrilling 200 IM race. McKeon bested McGinnis by less than two seconds, as McKeon posted a time of 2.30.00 and McGinnis at 2.31.67. McGinnis did take first in the 100 butterfly and was also on the first place 200 freestyle relay team along with McKeon, Emily Bennett and Kassidy Houck. Senior Bennett placed first in the 50 yard freestyle with a time of 28.18. Houck earned a first place finish in the 100 yard backstroke and Natalie Thompson took second place in the 100 yard breaststroke at 1:23.34.

For the boys, double winner Jackson Metcalfe took first in the 50 yard freestyle and the 100 yard freestyle events. Metcalfe also helped power the boys to a first place finish in the 200 yard freestyle relay alongside Stash Perry, Chandler Neal and Caden Nord. The foursome also finished first in the 400 yard freestyle relay. In solo work, Nord placed first in the 100 yard butterfly and the 100 yard backstroke events.

Oakdale hits the road when they take on Central Catholic and Kimball in three-way meet action at Kimball High School in Tracy on Thursday, April 13. The meet is scheduled for 3:30 p.m.
