Football season is on the horizon and Oakdale is getting ready for it. This weekend, the Oakdale Stampede Youth Football and Cheer will be hosting their second annual Meet and Greet at Kerr Park. Last year the organization’s inaugural event was a huge success and they hope to duplicate the response this year. On Saturday, July 22 the teams at all levels will gather from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an afternoon of BBQ, games, raffle drawings and socializing.

New treats and attractions for this year will be food selection. This year Stampede has decided to add a number of healthy choice to their menu, including chicken kabobs and salads. For the younger attendees, a bounce house will be available to play in. Also new to the festivities will be a corn hole tournament. Corn hole tables and bags were custom made by Victory Tailgate. At the event, a set of corn hole table boards will be raffled off.

Families are encouraged to bring EZ-Ups and chairs to the meet and greet. Stampede requests that everyone please leave footballs at home. There will be an official merchandise booth for fans and family members to get their gear for the season.

Oakdale Stampede Cheer will be hosting a cheer clinic on Saturday, July 29 from 9 a.m. to noon at Oakdale Junior High School. Practice for the Stampede begin on Monday, July 31 and the program will host this year’s CenCal Round Robin inside the new look Corral at Oakdale High School on Saturday, Aug. 19. The season officially kicks off Saturday, Aug. 26 when Oakdale travels to Manteca to take on the Buffaloes. Oakdale’s home opener will be Saturday, Sept. 9 when the Pride of Turlock comes to town.
