The OHS wrestling team hosted a Valley Oak League double dual meet on Wednesday, Jan. 14, as visitors Kimball and Sierra came to town to take on the Mustangs.

Oakdale dominated both schools, only giving up a total of 18 points throughout the course of the evening.

First to take on Oakdale on the mat were the Jaguars of Kimball. Oakdale’s Carlos Lopez took down Giani Jacobo in the third round via technical fall 15-0 in the 113 weight class. Cody Williams (120) made short work of Kimball’s Matthew Jaragul as Williams pinned Jaragul 1:28 into the first period. A pair of Oakdale wrestlers earned their hands raised via forfeit, Logan Eaton (126) and Julian De Los Rios (132).

Trevor Williams (138) also took the mats and earned a quick victory with a pin 1:18 into the first round over David Gonzalez.

Bronson Harmon (152) and Hunter Burford (170) then got their arms raised via forfeit for OHS.

At 180 pounds, Abel Garcia was impressive for the Mustangs, earning a quick pin over Caleb Wright at 1:12 in the first round. Teammate Christian Johnson (195) also finished with a first round pin as well 1:22 into the match.

Wrapping up the first half of the meet were Cedric Vierra (220) and Matthew Kjeldgaard (275) earned forfeit victories for the Mustangs.

Oakdale’s momentum carried over when they took on Sierra shortly after defeating Kimball. Cody Williams went three rounds with Vincent Marquez, with Williams earning a 4-0 win over the Sierra grappler. Much like they did in the first round Eaton and De Los Rios earned forfeit victories for the Mustangs.

In a physical battle that went the distance, Trevor Williams outwrestled Alex Loaiza through three rounds earning a 6-0 victory for the Mustangs in front of the home crowd.

Oakdale’s Daniel Cassas (145) walked away unharmed as he won via forfeit. In a three round bout, Oakdale’s Colby Harlan (152) battled his way to a 13-0 victory against Jarrett Penner.

A well-rested Bronson Harmon took on Anthony Andriotti, with Harmon pinning his opponent 1:17 in the second round.

Oakdale continued to shine throughout the evening with pin fall victories for Garcia, Vierra, and Kjeldgaard.

The Mustangs look to continue their dominance in the Valley Oak League when they travel to Manteca to take on East Union and Weston Ranch in a double dual meet on Wednesday, Jan. 21.
