The Oakdale High tennis team is kicking off its season in the right direction, racing out to an undefeated start in Valley Oak League action after three straight victories. The Lady Mustangs have throttled each team they have seen in league play, pushing themselves to the top of the pack on the VOL courts.

Oakdale handled Central Valley 13-2 with Elise Derby going 3-0 in her trio of singles matches. Tierney Seidel finished the trip to Ceres 2-1 as did teammate Emily Clayton. The girls doubles tandems both went undefeated, with Maria King teaming up with Kristen Barrett for a 2-0 run and Korinne and Laurie Baxter joining forces with another pair of wins.

The team stayed hot in their action against Lathrop, not leaving a point on the court in the 15-0 win. Derby was in midseason form against the new VOL counterpart, winning all three of her matches 6-0 to make a bold statement.

The Lady Mustangs closed out league action with a lopsided victory over the Lancers of East Union 13.5-1.5. The Lancers pilfered the second match from King and Baxter in doubles action, but had to be satisfied with only the one win.

The team will look to continue with its inspired effort as they play host to the Weston Ranch Cougars and the Manteca Buffaloes for back-to-back home VOL home matches, followed by a trip up the hill to face Sonora Sept. 15.
