The defending Sac-Joaquin Section champion boys soccer team wrapped up a busy week on the field. The boys played a pair of road scrimmage games against Enochs and Beyer High School, then took their act on the road in the two-day Pitman Tournament over the weekend.

Oakdale finished the tournament with a record of 2-1-1 record in their four matches. In the Mustangs first match, the boys tied in a scoreless battle with Atwater. Their offense caught fire in their second game when they knocked off Arcata 4-1. Led by junior midfielder Wesley Allen’s three goals and senior midfielder Jacob Pierson, who added a goal of his own, the Mustangs cruised to the victory. Senior goalkeeper Jose Solis was perfect between the posts, recording four saves.

Game three for the Mustangs saw the team take on Edison, where Allen again was key to the offense as he scored one goal and added an assist against the Vikings in a 2-1 victory. Adding on to the Mustangs power was junior midfielder Manuel Aguilar who found the back of the Vikings net himself.

Oakdale’s two game win streak came to a close when they fell to Pacheco 2-0. Pacheco scored both goals in the second half to knock off the Mustangs.

Oakdale will host Franklin and Livingston in a pair of non-league games this week, before heading to Gregori to play in the tournament on Friday and Saturday, Sept. 4 and 5. Oakdale opens league play on Monday, Sept. 14 on the road against Manteca.
