Oakdale police officers responded to a report of an unresponsive male early Monday morning and found the subject to be deceased.

Officers were called to the Stanislaus County Culinary Institute at 1040 Wakefield Drive in Oakdale just before 6:30 a.m. Monday, April 9. Police had received a report of a male lying on the ground unresponsive near the electrical box that powers the school.

The 44-year-old transient male subject was found to be deceased upon police arrival. The Stanislaus County Sheriff’s Coroner also responded to the scene. The details and evidence collected during the preliminary investigation are under review to determine the cause of death. Police said it appears the male subject may have been tampering with the building’s electrical connections prior to his death.

As of press time on Tuesday afternoon, the name of the man had not been released by police pending family notification.
