The T-Rex may be a vicious predator, but in its free time, it prefers to host a leisurely tea party for children. If you love dinosaurs, please come and enjoy a cup of special “Dino-Tea” with your friendly Library Dinosaur. “Stomp” by and join in on Thursday, Oct. 18, at 3:30 p.m. for a roaring good time.

Please bring your little ones for some Toddler/Preschool Dance Fun on Monday, Oct. 22, at 11 a.m. We’ll be “rockin’ out” to some of our favorite Story Time music as well as trying the hula, the Twist, or perhaps, a Mexican Hat Dance.

Our Children’s Craft for October will have a special “Halloween” theme. Bring your friends on Wednesday, Oct. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Children can make and take a sweet little lollipop “ghost,” a baby pom-pom “monster,” and slime.

Our Library Book Club will be reading “The Light Between Oceans” and then meeting to discuss and share on Tuesday, Oct. 23, at 11:30 a.m. You can sign out a copy at the Library and join in. New members are always welcome.

Remember, Preschool Story Time and Wiggle Worms continue through October.

Wiggle Worms Story Time has moved to Tuesday mornings at 10:30 a.m.

Enjoy stories, music, dancing, rhythm activities, and fingerplay at this special program perfect for ages birth to 3 and their caregivers. (25 to 30 mins.)

Preschool Story Time is now every Wednesday morning at 10:30 a.m.

Join us for books, flannelboard stories, fingerplay, and music, for preschoolers, ages 3-6, and caregivers. (30 mins.)

The Friends of the Oakdale Library are the main sponsors of so many of our great programs and prizes. The Friends constantly promote and encourage the great gift of literacy at all levels for everyone. Their monthly meeting will be on Monday, Oct. 22 at 1:30 p.m. Forms to join them and info about their services and support are available at the Oakdale Library, or call 209-847-4204.

Plan ahead for our Thursday, Nov. 1 Dia de Los Muertos Celebration at 3:30 p.m. Children are invited to come to the Library and remember loved ones by listening to a story, making a craft, and enjoying a sweet snack.

And, please plan ahead for our special “Read to a Dog” Event coming on Tuesday, Nov. 6 at 3:30 p.m. This unique program gives children a relaxed, non-judgmental atmosphere to practice reading aloud. Drop by the Library and read to a certified therapy dog. No sign-ups are necessary in this program designed for independent readers up to age 12. Books are provided or children can bring their favorite. The dogs seem pretty happy with any child’s choice.
