Lucky U Consignment, the newest storefront on North Yosemite Avenue, is offering designer labels for the budget-minded fashionista, said owner Amy Delgado.

Delgado, a Turlock native, moved to Oakdale two years ago with a background in interior design but had always dreamed of opening a consignment store. The single mother, whose favorite designer is Chanel, decided the time was right and opened Lucky U Consignment in April.

“I’m helping out the single mom by offering designer brands for cheap,” Delgado said.

Similar to Plato’s Closet in Modesto, Delgado is looking to stock her racks with upper end items with a focus on designer labels that would appeal to women ages 15 to 40.

“I am the raw shopper, second-hand shopper and I look for deals on brand names,” Delgado shared. “When I shop I’m proud of getting the deals. I’ve never really had a lot of money but I always had a taste for it.”

Delgado is after the customer who shares her caviar taste on a beer budget and wants to find those amazing deals on quality clothing.

Her inventory comes from a southern California buyer and she offers both consignment and purchasing outright for her clients.

She carries a two-month contract on the item and if it doesn’t sell, she offers to return it to the consignor or donates it to charity.

For the items she purchases outright, she said, she doesn’t bargain.

“I offer a one-time sale price. Take it or leave it. But I only do that with items I know I can sell,” Delgado said.

She also mails a check to the consignors when they have money on the books.

“Not everyone remembers they have clothes on consignment,” Delgado said. “I know there have been times I’ve lost clothes and money because I forgot about them. I don’t want that to happen to my clients.”

Delgado, who came to Oakdale for the smaller town atmosphere after the bustle of Turlock, said she’s looking forward to forging a long-term relationship with her new town, stating the quality of life is nice here.

“I’ve talked about opening a shop for years and my kids are really proud of me. I said it, and then I did it.”

Lucky U Consignment is at 126 No. Yosemite Ave., Ste. B.
