A late afternoon solo motorcycle crash on Stearns Road south of Sierra on Sunday left an Oakdale man with serious injuries.

According to the California Highway Patrol, 36-year-old Benjamin Neil Roper was riding his 2012 JohnPG motorcycle southbound on Stearns Road south of Sierra Road at an undetermined speed. For an unknown reason, Roper lost control of the motorcycle and it overturned. He was ejected from the motorcycle and sustained major injuries.

The crash occurred about 4:45 p.m. on Sunday, May 8. Roper was transported to Memorial Medical Center by air ambulance for treatment. Authorities said there were no other vehicles believed to be involved and alcohol and/or drugs are not suspected to have been a contributing factor. The crash remains under investigation.
