Oakdale Mayor, Pat Paul, was hospitalized at Doctor’s Medical Center in Modesto on Tuesday, Oct. 15 for an undisclosed reason. Staff at Doctor’s Medical Center confirmed she was still there on Wednesday Oct. 16.

“We wish the mayor a speedy recovery,” said Oakdale City Manager Bryan Whitemyer. “I hope she is back on her feet soon to continue her valued service to the community.”

Paul announced at the Oct. 7 city council meeting that she had been diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease but that she refused to accept the diagnosis and was going to battle any of the effects.

The Oct. 7 meeting was chaired by Pro-Tem Mayor Tom Dunlop. During the meeting Paul appeared to have trouble writing and needed assistance from council members seated next to her.

Paul won her mayoral seat in 2010 and previously served on the Oakdale City Council from 1980 to 1988 and the Stanislaus Board of Supervisors from 1989 to 2004.
