Lee Lundrigan, Stanislaus County Clerk Recorder & Registrar of Voters reports her staff will perform marriage ceremonies on Valentine’s Day at the main City / County Building located at 1010 Tenth Street in Modesto.
Couples must sign up in advance for individualized ceremonies. Ceremonies will start at 9 a.m. with the last ones scheduled at 3:30 p.m., on Friday, February 14, Valentine’s Day. Marriage licenses must be purchased and appointments made in advance at the Clerk Recorder’s Office located at 1021 “I” Street in downtown Modesto. Cost of the license and ceremony is $121. A confidential marriage license and ceremony is $126. No blood test is required. To obtain a certified marriage certificate, couples can fill out the request form at the Clerk Recorder office within one week following their ceremony. Certificates cost an additional $15.
“Couples planning to tie-the-knot should reserve their Valentine’s Day wedding without delay,” stated Lundrigan. The non-religious civil ceremonies will be conducted in English or Spanish by Lundrigan’s staff and invited deputy marriage commissioners. Guests are limited to 20 for each wedding, and children are welcome to attend. Wedding photos and videos are encouraged to be taken during the ceremony which allows for the exchange of wedding rings.
