Oakdale is the home to Me And My Feet, an online shoe store that fits and sells shoes for children and women.

The company was started by Joe and Jennifer Brown in 2007 after having an online boutique and now ship internationally as well as offering products in the local area. Joe noted that it is the “customer service” that sets the company apart.

The home-based business allows local customers to have a fitting done in the Brown’s quiet home studio, or at the customer’s home, Jennifer said.

“Our goal is to get you the right fit the first time,” she explained. “It’s about what’s right for the customer.”

Those customers that cannot make it to the studio are also able to call and be walked through a fitting process, which allows the parents to fit the children prior to ordering online. The company sells a wide variety of shoes, year-round, at a wide range of prices.

“We don’t want people to feel priced out of the market,” Jennifer said.

The Browns try every product themselves, or on one of their five children, before offering it to their customers, the couple explained.

Amanda Lamb, the company’s “right hand girl,” helps to ship and ensure the quality of every pair of shoes prior to it leaving the facility, Jennifer noted.

“We put our name behind every product,” she said.

Some products the company carries are exclusively sold there, such as handmade Bear Feet shoes for women and two particular styles of Saltwater sandals. Other brands available include WeeSqueak, Primigi and Stride Rite.

In addition to shoes, the company sells baby items such as blankets, bibs and socks. For the mothers, they have started selling jewelry. The company also takes their services and products to trade shows, but a great deal of their business comes from referrals, the couple said.

“It’s the greatest compliment when someone shares our name,” Jennifer admitted.
