Knights Ferry Rally In Support Of Sioux
Knights Ferry

Water protectors will gather again in support of Standing Rock/Mni Waconi/Water is Life, slated to converge on Knights Ferry next week.

The movement is in opposition to the Army Corps of Engineers decision to forego the environmental impact statement (EIS) study and allow DAPL to build the pipeline under the only water source for the Sioux tribe and millions of others downstream of the Lake Oahe Reservoir, part of the Missouri River.

“The drinking water of millions of Americans is now at risk,” said Dave Archambault II, tribe chairman, in a statement released this past week. “We are a sovereign nation and we will fight to protect our water and sacred places from the brazen private interests trying to push this pipeline through to benefit a few wealthy Americans with financial ties to the Trump administration.”

The Standing Rock Sioux, Native Nations of the United States and their allies are organizing a demonstration in Washington D.C on March 10.

Locally, supporters will gather at the Knights Ferry Covered Bridge, 17968 Covered Bridge Road, at 1 p.m. on Friday, March 10 for the rally.
