Music filled the streets of town all weekend as Sheather Fest brought in musicians from all over the world. It was warm but a lot cooler than last weekend’s temperatures. Festival goers were invited to bring blankets and low-back chairs to sit on a grass hill at The River’s Edge restaurant as bands preformed on stage with the river as a backdrop.

Miller’s Hall was constructed around 1863 and named for the original owner, Frederick Miller. It has always functioned as a multiuse building and reminds me of an old-fashioned plaza or commercial shopping center. For years it operated as a restaurant, pool and poker hall on the bottom floor and a dance hall on the top floor. Today, Miller’s Hall is home to many businesses: The Knights Ferry Creamery, KF USPS, KF Community Services District, The Made Shop, Read and Return Library, KF museum, and home to the Miller’s Hall Museum and Associates. It connects Knights Ferry to the outside world through mail service and houses some of the most precious antiques of the past in the museum.

I highly recommend visiting the museum and talking with some of the museum associates. They have some of the most valuable information about town. Haven’t you ever wondered where the Pumpkin Roll came from?

The Community Club meeting attendance was so-so. President, Chris Peterson announced the October Club meeting is cancelled because we have an opportunity to host a CPR certification class.
