Knights Ferry Hosts Pumpkin Roll
Knights Ferry

The day after Halloween, Sunday, Nov. 1, will see the 52nd annual Pumpkin Roll hosted in historic Knights Ferry. It is always held on the first Sunday after Halloween, which this year also happens to be the day after the holiday.

The object of the game is to stand at one end of the pumpkin roll area and roll your favorite pumpkin down Main Street. The winner is the one who gets closest to the chalked finish line. There are five categories, from preschool to senior citizens, with both male and female trophy winners in each one.

Every year, a pick up load of pumpkins is donated by George Perry and Sons of Manteca, one of the area’s largest growers.

Sign-ups start at 11 a.m. in front of the Knights Ferry Community Club and rolling begins for the youngest participants at noon. The main event for those six-years-old and up begins at 1 pm.

The day will also include a pancake breakfast at the I.O.O.F. Hall, a craft faire at the clubhouse and the Garden Club selling their pumpkin roll desserts.
