The Modesto Junior College Astronomy Club invites the community to view the stars at the Telescope Nights held the first Friday of each month at the new Science Community Center on MJC’s West Campus, 2201 Blue Gum Ave, Modesto. Telescope Night admission, viewing and campus parking are free.

Telescope Nights provide community members with opportunities to learn about space by providing access to astronomical resources in the Science Community Center, including multiple 12-inch telescopes, a 28-inch telescope/camera, a scale-model of the solar system, and a planetarium. (Availability of resources at each Telescope Night is dependent on event staffing, weather, and occasionally mechanical issues.)

The dates and times for upcoming Telescope Nights are: Feb. 7, 2014 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., March 7 from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m., April 4 from 8 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Snacks and refreshments will be available for purchase with proceeds benefitting the student-based Astronomy Club.

For more information on the Telescope Nights, contact Professor Noah Hughes at hughesn@mjc.edu or (209) 575-6800.
