Flu Shot Clinic Attendance Low

Coordinators are blaming the hot weather for the less-than-anticipated turn-out at the flu shot clinic sponsored by Walgreens, Thursday, Aug. 25, at the community center and they're hoping the next scheduled clinic in October draws more people.

According to Walgreens store manager Milton Gutierrez, about 100 people took advantage of the free flu shot clinic, which was a good showing but less than they'd hoped.

"It was a decent turn-out but I think it's just too hot for people to think about getting their flu shot. Maybe when it's cooler outside they'll think of the upcoming flu season. You know, it's never too early to get your shot," Gutierrez said.

The clinic offered free food and drinks, along with the flu shot. "We just want the community members to know what kind of services we offer at Walgreens," Milton said of the company's decision to host a flu shot clinic.

Plans are already set in motion to host the next flu shot clinic at the Senior Center in October.
