First Phase Of Project Sees Water Line Work

On a recent 100-degree day, work crews on C Street in Oakdale were busy digging through the roadway to replace an aging water main. The line runs from Johnson Avenue to South Sixth Avenue.

According to the Oakdale Public Works Department, the sewer line was still in good shape and not in need of any replacement. Once the water main is replaced and connected to the water system, crews will then replace all the lateral piping to the homes along the street. At the conclusion of the project, new asphalt will then be laid on C Street.

“This is Phase One of a multi-phase project on C Street,” said Oakdale Public Services Director Thom Clark. “The next phase will go west from Sixth Avenue.”

The project is financed with Gas Tax funds for the street portion of the construction and Water Capital Replacement funds for the water main.
