February Programs Offered At Oakdale Library

Story Time Sessions will continue throughout February at the Oakdale library, with a number of other special events also planned.

WIGGLE WORMS every Tuesday at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy stories, music, dancing, rhythm activities, and fingerplay at this special program perfect for ages 0 to 3 and their caregivers. (25-30 minutes)

PRESCHOOL STORY TIME is every Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. Books, flannelboard stories, fingerplay, and music for preschoolers, ages 3-6, and caregivers. (30 min.)

Computer Classes will be reviewing Basics, Part 1 and Part 2, on Feb. 2 and 9, with an Internet Basics Class scheduled for Feb. 23. All classes begin at 10:30 a.m. Please call the Library for info or to reserve a space, 847-4204.

Starting Feb. 4, and every Thursday throughout February and March, VITA, a free volunteer tax-help service, will be assisting people with completing and filing their tax returns. Appointments must be made in advance by calling the Oakdale library at 847-4204.

Children’s Craft will be creating a Pinecone Bird Feeder. The craft will begin at 3:30 p.m. on Feb. 3.

WEE MOVE AND PLAY program, featuring unstructured imaginative play for little ones, 5 and under, will be Feb. 8, at 11 a.m.

There will be two LEGO DAYS in February, this first is on Monday, Feb. 8, at 3:30 p.m. The second will be on Wednesday, Feb. 24, at 3:30 p.m. Kids can unleash their awesome creativity and the masterpieces will be displayed in the Library.

On Wednesday, Feb. 10, visitors will enjoy a Valentine Craft Party. There will be fun and fanciful, glittery and “sweet” ideas available, with all materials provided to make the perfect Valentine. This is for all ages — kids, tweens, teens, and adults, beginning at 3:30 p.m.

On Wednesday, Feb. 17, the STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts, Math) Book Program for grade-school children will be reading about “Infinity!” A discussion and “infinite” activity will follow. Fun and Learning at 3:30 p.m.

The Library Book Club will be reading “In the Lake of the Woods” and meeting to discuss and share on Feb. 23, at 11:30 a.m. New members welcome.

Friends of the Oakdale Library will meet Feb. 22, at 1:30 pm.

Their Book Sale Fundraiser will be March 8, 9, and 10.

An important final note — The Don Osborne Memorial Run, sponsored by the Oakdale Lions Club, will take place on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016, starting at 8 a.m. The Oakdale Lions Club donates the proceeds from this great event to the Oakdale Library; library officials said they deeply appreciate their kind and generous support.
