Oakdale’s downtown Farmer’s Market is now open; running every Wednesday night from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. along North Third Avenue between E and F streets.

Opening night was May 10; new coordinator Cap’n Coops kettle corn proprietors said it was a ‘soft’ opening, with more vendors anticipated to join in over the next few weeks, in addition to live entertainment and occasional appearances by local pet rescues with animal adoptions.

Fresh fruits and vegetables, baked goods, fruit smoothies, hummus, kettle corn, arts, crafts and more will be featured each week. The market will run throughout the summer, each Wednesday night through Sept. 28.

Glen Earl of Cap’n Coops said many of the shop owners along North Third are participating as well, bringing some of their products out on to the sidewalks during the market hours and staying open late on Wednesday evenings. Local radio station KAT Country 103 is scheduled at the market for the May 17 event.
