Elementary School Pint Sized Scientists Bring Home Hardware

Sibling rivalry was far from what was on the minds of brothers Jebb and Cooper Fox on Saturday as they demonstrated teamwork during the build portion of the Straw Egg Drop. The Cloverland students were among 450 student participants from Stanislaus County Elementary schools.

Oakdale Joint Unified School District was well represented on Saturday, April 8 at the 20th Annual Elementary Science Olympiad. Students from Cloverland, Fair Oaks, Magnolia and Sierra View elementary schools were among the 450 elementary student participants.

OJUSD as a whole medaled in 10 of the 17 hosted events, bringing home a total hardware count of 13 teams finishing in the top five.

 

The following is the list of winners by event and campus:

 

Cloverland:

Deep Blue Sea: Fourth Place - Alicia Clark and Jaiden Brown.

 

Fair Oaks:

Crime Busters: First Place - Brooke Hayden and Jessica Birchall; Elements: Fifth Place - Daphnie Rushing and Taylor Hay; Knock Knock Who’s There?: Second Place - Luke McKinley and Sofia Rios; Leaf and Tree: Fourth Place - Taylor Hay and Audrey Healy; Picture This: First Place - Kate Brown, Payton Avila and Carter Franca; Straw Egg Drop: Second Place - Tyler Mercer and Riley Miller.

 

Magnolia:

Catapult: Fourth Place - Jessica Garcia and Madelyn Hammond; Picture This: Fifth Place - Emma Frazer and Cole Kirschner; Write It/Do It: Second Place - Logan Thomas and Jackson Hammond.

 

Sierra View:

Circuit Wizardry: Second Place - Mason Oliveira and Catherine Davis; Knock Knock Who’s There: First Place - Jackson Taylor and Hayley Kuppens; Straw Egg Drop: Third Place - Donnie Graham and Daniel Campbell.
