Nearly 60 days after it was originally scheduled, the 2020 National Night Out in Oakdale took place Tuesday evening, Oct. 6. Members of the community were served a drive-thru meal at Fair Oaks Elementary School in observance of the postponed event. Mayor J.R. McCarty, City Manager Brian Whitemyer, Oakdale Police Department Chief Scott Heller, City Councilmember Cherilyn Bairos, American Veterans First, Oakdale Fire Department, Oakdale Police Department and others in the community worked together in making the evening happen; and handed out meals and other goodies for citizens.

Hamburgers, hot dogs, chips and choice of drink were issued to vehicles that participated. Kids were also given goodie bags that included a National Night Out coloring book, crayons, candy, bubbles and a National Night Out rubber band bracelet.
