Candidate Forum Slated For Assembly Hopefuls
League Womens Voters

Who will help make laws that govern your life? The Stanislaus County League of Women Voters and the League of California Cities will be hosting a Candidate Forum where you can meet your candidates for the upcoming election in California Assembly District 12. It is free and open to the public. The district, which includes portions of Stanislaus and San Joaquin counties including Oakdale, Riverbank and Escalon, is currently represented by Kristin Olsen, who is terming out of the seat.

The forum is set for Wednesday, March 30 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Stanislaus County Library, 1500 I St., Modesto.

The League of Women Voters is a nonpartisan political organization that encourages informed and active participation of citizens in government. It was founded in 1920 as a direct outgrowth of the 72-year struggle for women to gain the vote. Membership is open to all adult citizens, men as well as women.

The League provides and promotes service and education for voters, advocacy and public policy by registering citizens to vote, monitoring government activities from city councils to U.S. Congress, educating citizens about their rights and responsibilities. Also, sponsoring candidates’ and public issues’ forums, taking positions on issues based on in-depth studies and informing citizens though in-depth and balanced issues’ analyses.

The League never supports a political party or candidate and never mixes citizen education and advocacy.
