doctor

A Virtual Dementia Tour and an Alzheimer’s/Dementia Caregiver Support Meeting are both planned on a regular basis at Astoria Senior Living, 700 Laurel Ave., Oakdale.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is hosted the last Friday of every month, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with sessions held every hour on the hour. The ‘tour’ takes 15 minutes, followed by time for Q&A and refreshments. Call 209-322-2292 to RSVP for the time you prefer.

The Virtual Dementia Tour is an innovative program that combines sensory tools and information to help people experience what it’s like to live with the many physical and mental difficulties caused by dementia. Through the tour, trained facilitators guide individuals through common, everyday tasks while outfitted with devices that alter their senses.

The next session will be Friday, Feb. 24; call today to reserve a spot.

Also, the last Thursday of every month, from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., features an Alzheimer’s/Dementia caregiver support meeting, with the next session on Thursday, Feb. 23. Complimentary refreshments will be served and care will be provided for your loved one, with advance notice. Call Shara Hart, 209-322-2292 for more information or to confirm care for a loved one while you attend the meeting. The session is at Astoria Senior Living, 700 Laurel Ave.

All caregivers and family members are invited to attend, ask questions, encourage and support each other.
