Art Society Announces Fall Show Winners

Oak Valley Art Society meets the third Saturday of each month at the Escalon Library, 1540 Second St., Escalon at 10:30 a.m.

The group includes members from throughout the region and promotes and encourages interest in the visual arts. The annual Fall Art Show was hosted recently in Escalon and awards were presented in several categories.

Following are the first place winners in each category, with names and artwork titles provided by the club.

Best of Show, Paintings: Lilac Lovely by Peggy Neilsen; Best of Show, Photography: Fight a Fire/Blaze by Evelyn Cooper.

Oil and Acrylic categories: Landscapes and seascapes, first place Virginia Phillips, Deserted Barn; Still Life, Janet Spooner, Fruit on the Table; Portraits, Grace Glassey, Growl.

Watermedia Class: Peggy Neilsen, Lilac Lovely. Soft Pastel Class: Carl Earle, Winter Fox. Mixed Media: Bob Blan, Rebeca. Graphics: Bob Blan, ’35 Dusenberg. 3 Dimensional/Sculpture: Richard Jones, Beer Time. Photography: Kathleen George, Seaweed Fish. Youth: Under 9 Keira Hernandez, Lone Tree Creek; 9 to 17 Ashley Espino, Shinny pot.

In addition, artist Doug Kolsters won the ‘People’s Choice’ awards in both Painting and Photography, with members indicating it is the first time they can recall the same artist winning in both categories.
