This past week found not much damage (that I could see) from the wind and rain in the Ferry. It was great to stay by the fire and vegetate!

The celebration of life for Merle Schlageter last Saturday found four generations of his family, many square dancing buddies and friends gathered to remember Merle. His son and stepsons spoke and a presentation of pictures was shown of Merle doing the things he enjoyed. His son told of Merle and Sue buying their Knights Ferry property over 30 years ago, and Merle driving up from Los Angeles on the weekends to get things ready for their retirement. It was a lovely gathering in his memory.

The Knights Ferry Community Club meeting is Thursday, February 4th at 6:30 p.m. at the clubhouse. It is a dinner meeting. After the meeting they will be setting up for the Ground Hog dinner and White Elephant Raffle, which will be Saturday, February 6th. The doors will open at 5:30 p.m. Saturday with dinner at 6:00 p.m. Last year this event was hilarious. A-M please bring a dessert and N-Z a side or salad and your drink. The club will furnish the main dish, ground hog. Also bring an unwrapped “White Elephant” for the raffle (I have mine ready!). There is no charge for the dinner, just the raffle tickets. This is a great way to “re-gift” that present you can’t use (or can‘t like).
