You may have noticed the local Post Office’s special hours this week. Starting today, Wednesday, July 31 to Saturday, August 3, the Post Office will be open only once the incoming mail has been delivered and will close after the mail has been posted. Stamped and outgoing mail can be placed in the mail slot and mail can still be retrieved like any other day using your PO box combination.
The Stanislaus Odd Fellows would like to welcome their two newest members, Kathleen Feichter and Laura Watson!
There was a very significant turn out to the community fire safety and evacuation preparedness meeting on July 25 with more than 75 community members. Modesto Fire, Cal Fire, Oakdale Fire, and the Stanislaus Sheriff department all had representation at the meeting to discuss defensible space to prevent fire spread and evacuation procedures for the town. Modesto City Fire also said they were still working alongside Stanislaus Consolidated and that in the event of an emergency, Stanislaus Consolidated could respond if they were closer to the incident. The Sheriff’s department also confirmed that they would be in charge of protecting our town from looting if we had to evacuate.
Be sure to check any hidden areas for rattlesnakes even in town! The Wrights found a two-button rattlesnake in their yard.
The fire department reported multiple river rescues during the week. It is important to check river flows before getting on the river. Typically, it is at recreational flows only on the weekend but is raised during the week.
