At the MAC meeting, California Highway Patrol Officer Palazuelos introduced Officer Holly Fetcher who will be attending area MAC meetings. He reported that there is no Caltrans work being done until the budget passes. Margarita from Parks and Recreation said the dying redwood in the plaza is on the to-be-removed list. The redwoods in the valley are slowly dying because of our climate. Redwoods thrive in moist climates, (think foggy coast). The budget cuts have affected Parks and Recreation also. Janice McClendon from the Code Enforcement Office introduced Henry Carrillo from Graffiti Abatement and he showed the before and after pictures of some tagging. Heather Wright from the U.S. Army Corp Parks told of the winding down of the rafting season. Raul Melendez from the County Office told the MAC members of items they would be interested in and discussed the Central Valley Next-Generation Broadband Infrastructure Project. Many town members are interested in something faster for their computers and Raul is looking into the possibilities. The American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funds this Broadband Plan. The primary goal of this plan is to improve the availability of broadband networking infrastructure for 18 counties. Raul will keep the MAC informed about this plan. In new business, the demolition of a small house without permits was discussed.
