There was standing room only at the Oakdale Memorial Chapel last Thursday for the memorial for Patti Ulrich. Burial was at the Oak Grove Cemetery in Knights Ferry. Many co-workers from Hershey’s and numerous family members and friends then enjoyed the reception at the River’s Edge. She will be missed by Knights Ferry, her home for many years.

Knights Ferry School held the third quarter Renaissance assembly. Students who received all A’s were: Jocelyn Burke, Shawn Spani, Meghan Caron, Sage Heckinger, Sophie Jones, Daniel Lubeck, Shaye Spani, Kai Tanner, Ashley Caron and Taylor Kelley. Students having a 3.0 to 3.9 GPA were: Jenna Armario, Madeline Freitas, Sergio Garcia, Aleesha Harden, Julia Nilsson, Madison Page, Ray Patton, Taylor Viera, Megan Willis, Shaela Borba, Justin Doyle, Salvador Limon, Madison Willis, Dustin Darnelle, Maria Garcia, Fury Mancuso, Zachary Mooneyham, Devin Odom, Eron Roen, Cleo Wilson, Annette Arias, Kaitlin Burke, Jaycee Harden, Charissa Humble, Andie Jones, Araceli Limon, Nathan Lute, Jasmin Olvera, Chris Roek, Leah Armario, Alissa Baize, Katie Christensen, Peyton Paul, Luke Tanner and Charles Wong. The geese at the Dolling’s pond have again hatched goslings. They come every year to raise their babies.

The Knights Ferry Boutique will close at the end of April. Pam and Wendy are moving to other adventures. The shop will be for rent so if you are interested call 881-3217.

Last Wednesday at the 50’s Roadhouse the “Birthday Song” was sung to Gary Shook and Bill Beckham.

Congratulations Second Grader Rilyn Cassaretto for her First Place for First and Second grades at the Gratton Spelling Bee. Congratulations Fourth Grader Shawn Spani for her Third Place for Third and Fourth Grades at the same Bee. Good spelling girls!

New stairs are going up at Miller’s Hall and new siding on the back of the building. Bob Muller and Bill Carr are doing a great job!

At the Knights Ferry School Board meeting, First Grader Olivia Doshas led the flag pledge and then read stories that the First Graders had written. Superintendent/Principal Cheryl Griffiths showed the Safety Commander Kit that the school received. The Board adopted the 2011-2012 calendar, approved the Comprehensive School Safety Plan, reviewed the Board Evaluation form and discussed the upcoming Public Schools Night, April 29th at 6:30 p.m.

April 25th is the annual Peddlers Faire at the Knights Ferry Recreation Area from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., rain or shine. There will be an Odd Fellow’s Breakfast that morning from 8-12 and a shuttle will transport you from town to the park.
