Varsity Girls Claim League Track Title

Thursday, April 18 Oakdale hosted Sierra in the final track and field meet of the regular season. On the day Oakdale’s varsity girls defeated Sierra 88-48 to win the Valley Oak League championship. In the win Kindra Branch took first place in the 300 meter hurdles at 50.3. Haleigh Humble placed first in both the 800 meter and 1600 meter races while Carley Maaske took first place in both the 100 and 200 meter races. Kayden Legan placed first in the 3200. In discus Emma Harper placed first with a throw of 142 feet and two inches. Angie Lowry placed first in shot put with a throw of 28 feet and five inches. Tayler Lamb placed first in the high jump.

For the varsity boys it was a heartbreaking tie with the Timberwolves 68-68. Dustin Chavez won the 1600 meter race. Cameron Burke placed first in both the 400 meter race and the 300 meter hurdles. Zeke Saffar took first place honors in the 100 and 200 meter s. Ben Chappell threw for 145 feet and two inches in discus to claim first place. A.J. Martinez, John Foreman, Burke and Saffar placed first in the 4x100 meter race. Jaiden Williams placed first in the triple jump.

Oakdale returns to action on Thursday, May 2 when they travel to Kimball for the 2019 Valley Oak League Finals. The meet is scheduled to begin at 2 p.m.
