Mustangs Host Valley In Playoff’s First Round
OHS Mustangs

Following the 40-point loss Friday night, Oakdale found out its playoff fate on Saturday afternoon. The home loss hurt the Mustangs in the playoff standings as they were named as the fifth seed in the 2018 CIF Sac-Joaquin Section Division IV Playoffs. Missing out on a top four seed and a first round bye, Oakdale will host Valley this Friday night, Nov. 2 inside The Corral. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m.

Valley (4-6, 2-2) enters the tournament as the No. 12 seed and finished third in the Greater Sacramento League. The Vikings are coming off a 63-12 home loss to Cordova.

In the D-IV bracket, Rio Linda is the top seed out of the 12 teams. If the Mustangs are successful they will likely have to find success on the road the rest of their journey to a Section title. The winner of this weekend’s first round playoff game will take on Wood High School of Vacaville. Wood is the fourth seed and completed their season with a 7-3, 3-2 record. The Wildcats enter the tournament on a two-game losing streak and placed third in the Monticello Empire League.

Others in the bracket are Vanden, Casa Roble, Patterson, Golden Valley, Pacheco, Sierra, Cordova and Rosemont.
