A capacity crowd made their way to the Chicken Ranch Hotel and Casino in Jamestown for Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) action on Saturday, July 12. Hoplite Fight Productions presented “Still the Biggest Little Show in California” at the area venue.

With 13 fights on the card, and seven of the fighters representing Oakdale’s Last Stand Fight Team, fight fans were treated to an action packed evening.

Oakdale would win five of their seven fights including Featherweight Sal Becerra defeating Mike Ryan of No Limit Fight Team in the second round. It was Becerra’s first fight, while Ryan fell to a 1-5 record.

In the evening’s only title fight, the Flyweight Title was up for grabs as Oakdale’s La Vang clashed with Mike Tubera of MMA Shape Up. Tubera entered the evening with a record of 6-2 while Vang entered with a 2-1 record. Although Tubera was the more experienced fighter, Vang held his own and won by a unanimous decision to claim the title. Bantamweight competitor, Luke Nenes remained undefeated (3-0) as he won by a TKO just 1 minute and 18 seconds into the second round against John Casem of Deleotega Muay Thai.

Last Stand Fight Team member, middleweight Lloyd Mathiesen, earned the night’s fastest victory as he made short work of Kevin Willy, getting the win 1 minute 11 seconds into the bout.

Flyweight Anthony Howard delivered a rare naked choke 1 minute and 36 seconds into the second round over Michael Baldonado. Howard, a Last Stand product, improved his record to 2-0.

Anntonette Bernal and Yaya Rincon went the distance in their bantamweight bout that saw Fabio Prado BJJ’s Rincon win in a split decision.

The Chicken Ranch Hotel and Casino will host Hoplite Fight Productions’ next event on Saturday, Oct. 25 with fighters to be determined.
