Oakdale traveled to Merced to face the Cougars at Central Valley High School on Saturday, Oct. 7 in Week 7 action. The road team saw mixed results as the three levels of CenCal Youth teams battled it out on the gridiron on Saturday.
The varsity Stampede shut out the Cougars 48-0 to improve to 6-1 on the season. Oakdale has outscored their opponents 271-52 this season. The 52 points given up are the least amount of points surrendered at the varsity level thus far in the league. This upcoming weekend the third place Stampede will travel to Turlock High School to face the second place Bulldogs (7-0) with kickoff scheduled for 8 p.m.
The junior varsity team suffered a 39-6 loss. It was the team’s first loss of the season and they are now sitting in third place in the AFC standings. Oakdale will take on the first place Bulldogs (7-0) on Saturday with kickoff scheduled for 6 p.m.
Oakdale’s peewee club was involved in a barnburner in Merced this past Saturday, only to come up short 52-32 against the unbeaten Cougars. The tough loss dropped the Stampede to 4-3 on the year and they are sitting in fourth place. Saturday afternoon the team will travel to face the second place Bulldogs (6-1) with kickoff scheduled for 4 p.m.
