The Oakdale Stampede varsity is one win away from winning the Super Bowl. The second seeded Stampede went to Atwater to take on the top seeded Thunder this past Saturday in the AFC Championship game. The Stampede silenced the Thunder 55-8 in the contest. In week three, the Thunder defeated Oakdale 28-14. Oakdale finished the regular season with a 9-1 overall record, tied with the Thunder.
On Saturday night, the Stampede will meet with the NFC champion Manteca Jaguars at Golden Valley High School in Merced. The Jaguars were the three seed in the NFC tournament, defeating the fourth ranked Los Banos Wildcats 33-14 in the NFC Championship game. The Jaguars went 5-5 overall on the year and 4-2 against the NFC. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m.
