Open Water Festival Aids Alcatraz Prep

Members of the Oakdale Aquatics Masters swim team competed recently in the Lake Del Valle Open Water Festival. Oakdale residents Ray Jackson and Arijaan Bulk participated in the Livermore event in preparation for the Alcatraz crossing event that is scheduled for later this summer. Both swimmers took part in the 1.25 kilometer race on Sunday, June 12. Bulk finished the race in 28:44.90 and Jackson at 32:54.60. Along with Jackson and Bulk, fellow Masters Ed Mageean and Dana Macabales also made the trip to Livermore. Macabales swam the 1.25 kilometer and 2.5 kilometer races. She finished the 1.25 kilometer race in 21:28.30 and the 2.5 kilometer in 44:27.70. Mageean completed the 2.5 kilometer in 45:54.55.

The Oakdale Aquatics Masters is an affiliate of US Masters Swimming. They offer classes from Adult Learn to Swim, fitness swimming, and competitive swimming.
