Oakdale Golf Squad Falls To Raiders By One Stroke

The Oakdale Mustangs boys golf team went through the season with just one loss on their record. On Monday, May 1 the team placed second in the Valley Oak League Tournament to Central Catholic by one stroke. As a team, Oakdale shot 425, and Central Catholic won the tournament and the VOL while shooting a 424.

“It’s heartbreaking. I am very proud of what the boys did this season but that’s a tough one,” said Oakdale coach Lee McGhee.

Oakdale’s Calvin Reed shot a 78 through 18 holes at Manteca Park Golf Course in Manteca. Reed’s 78 was second best overall on the day, three strokes behind Central Catholic’s Tyler Ward and East Union’s Tayler Griggs. David Myrtakis finished fourth overall with 80. Tristian Jaramillo shot 87 and placed 11th overall for Oakdale. Both Max Moore and Josh Barrera tied for 14th overall at 90 on the day. Zackary Tamburrino wrapped up the day for Oakdale at 94 in 19th place on the day.

On Monday, May 8 the boys went to Yolo Fliers Club in Woodland for the CIF Division III playoffs. Tee time was following The Leader’s press time.
