Mustangs Run Wild At VOL Cross Country Meet

The Valley Oak League Cross Country Championship meet was held Wednesday, Oct. 25 at Eagal Lakes in Tracy. For the freshman/sophomore boys and junior varsity girls it was a championship performance. The freshman/sophomore girls placed second, the junior varsity boys and varsity girls each placed third and the varsity boys placed fourth overall.

Freshman Tanner Cusano placed first overall in the two mile run at 12:03.8. Three of his teammates finished in the top five; Alexis Aguilar placed second overall at 12:17.3 and third place went to Austin Bruner at 12:31. Clayton Bashor placed fifth for Oakdale at 12:44.3. Oakdale finished in first place with 19 team points.

For the junior varsity girls 5,000 meters Oakdale claimed first place, led by junior Analaura Navarro who finished the race at 25:22.1. Placing in the top ten were Kaitlyn Dickson (ninth), Alyssa Beltran (tenth). As a team Oakdale scored 42 points to take first place.

Oakdale’s freshman/sophomore girls placed second on the day with a team score of 54. Manteca placed first with a total score of 70. Kali Jericoff placed eighth for Oakdale and Daniela Dela Riva placed tenth.

The junior varsity boys placed third with 70 total points. Two Mustang runners finished in the top ten; Arturo Verduzco (ninth) and Hector Silva (tenth).

For the varsity girls Kayden Legan placed second overall and was named All-League Performer. Legan completed the 5,000 meter race in 20:46.6. Oakdale took third overall in the standings with 74 points.

The varsity boys finished tied for fourth with 107 points. James Forkner placed 13th overall in the 5,000 meter race at 18:18.9.
