Learn Golf, Life Skills Through First Tee Program

The First Tee of Central Valley has announced its 2018 Program Schedule. Clinics offering Life Skill and golf instruction for youth ages 6-17 are set to begin on Monday, March 19 at eight golf facilities in four counties. Participating locations include Modesto Municipal, St. Stanislaus, River Oaks (Ceres), Rancho Del Rey (Atwater), Merced Country Club, Phoenix Lake (Sonora) as well as Dryden Park and Creekside. Lessons will focus on the fundamentals of golf as well as The First Tee Healthy Habits and Nine Core Values.

The community is invited to an Open House at Modesto Muni on Saturday, Feb. 3 from 10 am to noon. This kickoff event will feature The First Tee demonstrations, opportunities for interaction with coaches and hands-on activities. Enrollment forms will be available and online registration is also offered. The First Tee of Central Valley is also looking for volunteer coaches (need not be golfers), sponsors and general volunteers.

Spring Session runs March 19 through May 26 at all locations. Registration is $65 per child for the entire nine-week session. Scholarships are available and no equipment is needed. Participants are required to wear close toed shoes and appropriate attire.

The First Tee of Central Valley (TFTCV), headquartered in Modesto, is in its 15th year of positively influencing the lives of youth through the game of golf. Operating under the Del Rio CC Foundation, TFTCV also partners with local schools to provide after school activities, National School Program and DRIVE program.
