Oakdale Lady Mustang soccer clubs hosted Downey on Tuesday evening, March 1. In their lone match of the week, Oakdale hosted Downey in a non-conference contest. The varsity girls (3-1-1) tied 2-2 with the visitors.

Freshman forward and midfielder Krissy Lolonis scored her first goal of the season and senior midfielder Ana Patricia Jacobo also found the net for the first time this season for Oakdale in the tie. Assists came from senior midfielder Megan Burke, her second of the season, and senior forward Madison Feuerstein also added her second assist on the young season.

“Unfortunately, we had a case of the rubber legs, some of the girls play in competitive travel teams and played on Sunday night and I think it caught up with them. We just got winded,” said Coach Alfredo Quiroga. “We played well in the second half, and had many opportunities to win the game.”

Melissa Ibarra and Kaylee DeRuyter were the Lady Mustang goalkeepers throughout the match, sharing time in the net.

Oakdale traveled to Enochs to face the Eagles (2-1-2) on Monday, March 7 following The Leader’s press time.
